THE Lagos State chapter of the Action Alliance party (AA), on Wednesday, 2nd June, 2021, conducted its chairmanship and councillorship primaries in preparation of the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
“We are contesting 11 seats in all, which comprise one chairmanship seat and 10 councillorship seats. We are contesting the Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) chairmanship seat and 10 councillorship seats across three LCDAs which comprise Igando-Ikotun, Lagos Island and Olorunda LCDAs” said the chairperson of the party, Chief Adeyemi Abiola.
“In Igando-Ikotun LCDA, we are contesting in Wards A, B, C, D, E, F and G; in Lagos Island, we are contesting only in Ward F and G, while in Olorunda LCDA, we are only contesting in Ward E,” Abiola said.
According to Chief Abiola, the candidates for these positions emerged unopposed and the councillorship contestants include four women, while the sole chairmanship candidate is Rev. Bola Omokorede.
It is to be noted that the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has released a timetable to conduct elections in the 20 Local Governments and 37 LCDAs of the state on July 24th, 2021.
