THE commission explained that the portal is for eligible persons that are up to the legal age of 18 years, to register online before they complete the process at a designated physical centre. The physical centres would be operational from the 19th of July, 2021 across the 37 INEC states offices and 774 local government offices nationwide.
The requirement for new voters is to fill a bio-data form on the portal and attach all required documents, after which they are expected to visit an approved INEC office for the completion of the registration process. The CVR portal can be accessed through the CVR website.
INEC further stated that registered voters can also access the platform to review their registration status, update personal information, transfer voter’s registration to another polling unit, and request for a replacement of damaged or defaced Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).
