THE Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will this week inaugurate 36 roads, five bridges, and a pedestrian bridge across the State.
According to media reports, the Special Adviser on Infrastructure to the Governor, Olufemi Daramola, who disclosed this on Friday during a briefing, stated that in a bid to grow the economy through a robust infrastructure portfolio, the Sanwo-Olu administration embarked upon the provision of sustainable road infrastructure in the state.
“It is important to mention that despite the global economic challenges and spiralling inflation, which led to a major increase in the costs hitherto earmarked for the projects—almost to a point of abandonment—the administration of Mr Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, prioritised the delivery of these projects,” Daramola stated.
He added that in addition to the completed projects that would be inaugurated during the week, other projects are at various stages of completion across all five divisions of the state.
He said, “That we can deliver these projects despite the global and national economic downturn is an affirmation of the conscious effort of the administration of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu to provide major infrastructure across the various divisions and fulfil our promise to the good people of the state.”
According to him, the Governor will commence the inauguration of the projects on Monday, December 9, 2024, with the Abiola-Onijemo Link Road with Bridge in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Council and the Alapere Pedestrian Bridge in Kosofe Local Council. On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, the Ikoyi network of roads in Eti-Osa Council, which includes Oyinkan Abayomi, Femi Okunnu, Macpherson, Ilabere, Ilu, Inupa, and Kuramo roads, will be commissioned.
“As the administration progresses towards the halfway mark of the second-term journey, we shall march on to consolidate the gains we have made in infrastructure development, even as we continue to look forward to continued collaboration.
“We shall finish strongly, intensifying the resolve to continue building a Lagos that is safe, prosperous, and economically friendly,” he said.
