In continuation of impact assessment findings, the Executive Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area (LGA) Hon Shamsudeen Abiodun Olaleye, has taken a similar step to that of Hon. Adeshina Williams of Igando-Ikotun LCDA by inspecting the charred Ilasamaja Police Station, which was set ablaze by hoodlums during the #Endsars protest across Lagos last week.
Shamsudeen Abiodun, in the company of members of his executive team, was close to tears on Monday at the sight of the burnt police station reduced to debris last week.
Hon. Abiodun was told how the marauding youths stormed the police station brandishing dangerous weapons before unleashing terror on Ilasamaja community.
The newly-posted DPO of the station, SP Rafiu Olusegun, informed them that one police officer (name withheld) was killed by hoodlums before setting his corpse ablaze.
Without any form of resistance from any quarter, the police station was set ablaze while valuables belonging to officers of the station were carted away.
As if that was not enough damage, the hoodlums had a field day as they also set ablaze the Motor Traffic Division of the police station located on Ajose Street, Berliet Bus Stop. All the officers: seniors, and rank and file of the station scampered for safety.
The destruction was also extended to Araromi and Balogun Streets where two popular hotels, Endurance and Bola Hotels, were completely vandalised.
At the end of the mayhem, about 10 unaccountable vehicles were vandalised while chains of businesses were not spared.
The council boss while commiserating with victims of the mayhem and some business owners, appealed for calm even as he sued for peace in the area.
He reiterated the state government's promise to cushion the effect of the loss to their businesses.
