Omeruo backs Chelle to deliver World Cup ticket

DEFENDER of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Kenneth Omeruo have backed newly appointed manager, Eric Chelle to ensure they make it to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The former Mali boss has been handed the responsibility of guiding the Super Eagles through a difficult 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Despite the Eagles being second from the bottom, Omeruo believes the newly appointed manager has what it takes to ensure the team makes it to the 2026 World Football tournament.

“The new coach has something to give to the Super Eagles,” Omeruo said during a live session on his X handle, which he co-hosted with Ndidi.

“We saw a very organised Mali during our friendly match last year and at the AFCON, and now with the talent in Nigeria, we expect even more,” he added.

The Super Eagles will face the Amavubi of Rwanda and Warriors of Zimbabwe when the qualifiers resume in March and must ensure a win in both games to stand a chance of qualifying.
