Man City suffers 4-1 defeat to incoming United manager

SPORTING CP, under Ruben Amorin, handed a 4-1 defeat to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in yesterday's Champions League fixture.

Ruben Amorin, who is set to take over as Manchester United boss when the international break ends next two weeks has shown what he is capable of by securing a stunning win against Pep.

It was the third consecutive defeat for the Premier League champions in all competitions as Viktor Gyokeres scored a hat-trick for the Portuguese champions.

Speaking after the game, Guardiola said, “We had a fantastic first half, now we are struggling to score. We create and concede when the opponents don’t do much.

“The first half was really good, we scored a goal, but every pass, the simple things we missed sometimes. It can happen. After the third and the fourth, we have to avoid it.

“Emotionally, we were not stable enough and in this competition, you have to be stable. At 2-1, many things can happen. We have to be emotionally more stable.”

Both managers will again cross paths later this year when Amorin, in charge of Manchester United, plays Manchester City in a Premier League Manchester derby on December 15 at the Etihad Stadium.
