THE Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived at camp in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, for the 2023 AFCON without key players like Kelechi Iheanacho and Terem Moffi, who are set to arrive this weekend.
Kelechi Iheanacho is recovering from a muscular problem and was not part of Nigeria’s pre-2023 Africa Cup of Nations training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Terem Moffi was a late replacement for Bayer Leverkusen star, Victor Boniface, who has been ruled out of the competition after sustaining a groin injury in training.
Super Eagles Head coach, Jose Peseiro has provided an update on when both players will link up with the rest of the squad ahead of their opening fixtures against Equatorial Guinea.
According to the Portuguese tactician, Kelechi Iheanacho will join the squad on January 13 as they are keeping contact with the medical team in Leicester City, while Moffi is expected to be in Ivory Coast on the 14.
The Super Eagles match against Equatorial Guinea is set to take place on Sunday by 3 pm Nigeria time at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, commonly known as the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé.
