Arteta demands punishment for abusers of Havertz, family

ARSENAL manager, Mikel Arteta has called for punishment for people who abuse and threaten footballers on social media.

This is coming after Kai Harvetz's wife was a victim of online abuse after Harvetz failed to convert from the penalty spot in the loss against Manchester United in the FA Cup competition.

Before Wednesday’s North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur, Arteta addressed the online abuse suffered by the German and his family.

“It is incredible, honestly. We really have to do something about it.

“Accepting and hiding this has terrible consequences. It is something we have to eradicate from the game,” Arteta said.

“On the 27th of December, we won 1-0 and Kai Havertz scored the goal. That was 20 days ago. Guys, what is the perspective? We are all responsible for the narrative and how we talk,” he added.

Sophia Havertz shared two posts on her Instagram story, including one where one user threatened to “slaughter” her unborn baby.
