1. LASG TO GIFT 800 WIDOWS N40 MILLION
In celebration of International Widows Day, the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation will give N50,000 each to 800 widows, totalling N40m. The beneficiaries were drawn from various Non-Governmental Organisations, faith-based organisations, the Lagos State Social Register, political groups, and the Ministry’s register of vulnerable widows who had sought assistance.
2. JAMB FIXES DATE TO DECIDE 2024 ADMISSIONS CUT-OFF MARKS
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will hold its policy meeting on July 18, 2024, where it will determine the cut-off marks for the 2024 admissions. The July policy meeting will also analyse candidates’ performances in the 2024 UTME, which was held in April.
3. LASG LAUNCHES LAG-UP TO MENTOR, EQUIP YOUTHS WITH TECH SKILLS
The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, in collaboration with GFA Technologies and Wema Bank Plc, has launched the Lagos State Upskill Programme (LAG-UP) aimed to bridge the digital divide and equip young people in the State with the skills they need for self-reliance.
4. FG UNVEILS MOBILE COURTS TO CURB BULLYING, SEXUAL ASSAULT IN SCHOOLS
The Federal Government has unveiled mobile courts and new guidelines for hotels and schools to ensure speedy access to justice for cases of Gender-Based Violence, sexual assault, and bullying. The objective of the mobile courts includes increasing the speed of deployment and dispensation of justice.
