MUSIC executive and CEO of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy has revealed that he stopped releasing songs on Friday because of top artists like Wizkid and Asake.
The producer speaking in a podcast interview with Fisayo Fosudo noted that if he tried releasing songs the same day Wizkid or Asake were also releasing songs, the song would “die”.
Don Jazzy said: “We [Mavin] are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artist dropping a song].
“If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”
Mavin Records, which is one of Africa's biggest record labels has stars like Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, and Johnny Drille.
