Aki highlights ‘louts’ as major challenge in Nollywood

NOLLYWOOD actor, Chinedu Ikedieze, who is well known as  Aki, has said noted that hoodlums are one of the major problems affecting the Nigerian movie production industry.

The veteran actor said hoodlums harassing and invading the movie production scene makes the production difficult as large amounts of money would be given to the hoodlums before being allowed to shoot.

“Another thing I want to pinpoint that I see as also part of our challenges is, the kind of relationship we think we would get from people that we are not getting. If you go to shoot [movie], louts will disturb,” Aki said in a recent interview with Naija Mouth-Piece.

“They will destroy your camera and even fight you. And those people don’t know how that place came about. They are not paying tax. They are not contributing anything, but they would ask you to pay for the place you want to shoot the movie,” he added.

Apart from lout/ hoodlums giving movie production problems, the 45-year-old also mentioned piracy as a problem, as well as the Government who find it difficult to release their parastatals (airport etc.) for them to use to shoot.
