HRM Oba (Dr) Ibrahim Olasunkanmi Lawal-Bello, the newly crowned Onisheri of Isheri-Olofin Kingdom, is bringing a fresh wave of leadership and vision to the Alimosho inheritance community. As a highly educated and forward-thinking leader, his extensive knowledge and commitment to education are expected to shape his people's future and leave a lasting impact.
Born and raised in Isheri-Olofin, he has always been deeply connected to his roots. His academic journey took him through some of Lagos’ most prestigious institutions, culminating in a degree in Chemical & Petroleum Engineering from the University of Lagos. His educational background is not just a personal achievement but a tool he intends to use to uplift his people, especially the youth. With a strong passion for human capital development, he is determined to create opportunities for learning, professional growth, and economic empowerment.
One of his first major initiatives since ascending the throne has been his direct involvement in the education of young students. Recognising the challenges many face in accessing quality education, he has personally taken it upon himself to teach Chemistry lessons to students preparing for the JAMB examination. In addition, he has covered the JAMB registration fees for about 200 students, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their pursuit of higher education. These efforts demonstrate his belief that education is the foundation for a prosperous future and that empowering the younger generation will lead to sustainable development for the entire community.
His commitment to progress does not end with education. He has outlined a vision that includes advancements in healthcare, sports, and general community welfare. His background as a FIFA-licensed football intermediary and Chairman of Bucknor Football Club showcases his dedication to youth development through sports. By investing in education and sports, he is creating a well-rounded approach to empowering the next generation.
Oba Lawal-Bello’s influence has already been recognised beyond his kingdom. He was recently honoured with the prestigious title of “Commander of Peace” (COP) by the United Nations International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC). This recognition is a testament to his contributions to grassroots development, youth engagement, and peace-building efforts within his kingdom and beyond. As part of this honour, he has been invited to join the UNIPGC Advisory Council under the Committee of Culture & Tradition, further solidifying his role as a global ambassador for peace and governance.
Beyond accolades, his leadership is about action. He has organised computer coding programs, supported infrastructure projects such as transformer installations, and provided relief packages to the elderly. His efforts reflect a deep sense of responsibility and a vision that prioritizes the well-being of his people.
Despite the controversies and challenges that often accompany traditional leadership, he remains committed to fostering unity, religious tolerance, and cultural preservation. His reign represents a modern approach to kingship—one that blends tradition with innovation, education with action, and vision with execution. His leadership is expected to bring not just stability but also progress, making the Alimosho inheritance community a model for other regions.
As he continues to implement his initiatives, the people of Isheri Olofin Kingdom can expect a reign that is not only deeply rooted in cultural values but also forward-looking in its approach to development. His belief in education, youth empowerment, and community welfare will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy, ensuring that the future of Alimosho is one of prosperity, knowledge, and opportunity for all.
