#IkotunPrayerWalk: Residents move around Alimosho, pray for peace

Ikotun-Egbe residents on Saturday marched through Alimosho with the hashtag #IkotunPrayerWalk, holding hands and praying for an end to police brutality, while praying for peace in Nigeria and more wisdom for the leaders.

The group converged around Ikotun BRT Bus-Stop at 9:00 am, armed with the Nigerian flag and singing praise and worship songs.

The #IkotunPrayerWalk moved from Ikotun and marched towards Idimu, kneeling and praying at every bus stop, asking for peace and praying that an end comes to police brutality in the country.

There was no specific leader as different persons were asked to pray at each bus stops.

The #IkotunPrayerWalk was fashioned in a procession in which half of the road was taken and guided by a wall formed by co-protesters, who held hands to protect their mates from vehicles moving on the same lane, as the road was shared peacefully.

The protetsers, mostly youths and teenagers, were in a very sombre mood, asking for God's intervention on Nigeria to become a better place for young people and posterity to enjoy.

At this point, the prayer walk group gathered inside the Isheri Garden at Isheri-Olofin Bus Stop, Idimu.

One of the prayer leaders, Mr Paul Dhumebi, said: " We implore the Lord to plead our cause. Nigeria must be great again. O Lord, have mercy. We ask for mercy. Let peace reign O, Lord. Let police brutality end, in Jesus' mighty Name."
