THE Lagos State Government, through the State Environmental Sanitation Corps, popularly called LAGESC, has dislodged illegal roadside traders and shanties built on drainage channels in FESTAC Town, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of the State.
According to media reports, the traders were removed from the area in an enforcement operation led by KAI Corp Marshal, Olaniyi Cole, and carried out on Monday. The operation was part of the ongoing effort to maintain law and order in the State, thereby correcting environmental degradation.
The State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this via a statement shared on his official X.com, formerly Twitter.
The statement read in in part: “As part of the ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the state, Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources through the operatives of #LAGESCOfficial earlier today (Monday).
“LAGESCOfficial conducted an enforcement operation at 21 Road, 211 Junction, FESTAC town, dislodging illegal roadside traders and removing shanties built on the drainage and roadside thereby causing environmental nuisance on the road.”
