Schools in Alimosho, other Lagos areas to vacate December 16, resume January 9, 2023

Public and private schools in Alimosho

PUBLIC and private primary and secondary schools in Alimosho LGA and other areas of Lagos are expected to close for the first term of the 2022/2023 academic session on Friday, December 16, 2022.

Also, the schools in the state, below the tertiary level are expected to resume for the second term on Monday, January 9, 2023.

This is in compliance with the harmonised school calendar for the 2022/2023 academic session released by the Lagos State Government, through the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), Ministry of Education.

Harmonised school calendar 

The Director-General of OEQA, Mrs Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, had, in July 2022, explained that the year 2022/2023 academic calendar encompasses flexibility in schools and prioritises harmonised instructional days of learning to ensure that students in the state spend productive learning hours in the classrooms, stressing the need for schools to maintain a minimum of 180 learning days.

Seriki-Ayeni, therefore, enjoined all schools to adhere strictly to the approved academic calendar for the delivery of quality and sustainable education in Lagos State.
