Okun Alimosho set to kick off Alimosho Summer School this July!

OKUN Alimosho, a subsidiary of AfroVanguard, a non-profit organisation domiciled in Alimosho, is set to kick off the Alimosho Summer School for Alimosho children during the summer holidays.

Information reaching Alimoshotoday states that the Alimosho Summer School is a dynamic educational programme aimed at providing children in the Alimosho community with an enriching and immersive learning experience. With a limited duration of four weeks and eight contacts, the programme will focus on practical skill development.

The screening will take place on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Alimosho Junior Grammar School, Alimosho and Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Muslim Junior College, Egbe.

This Summer School will be happening in three different locations simultaneously, namely Alimosho Grammer School, Muslim College, Egbe, and Methodist Primary School, Igbogila, and is slated to begin on Monday, July 31, 2023, to Saturday, September 2nd, 2023, from 9 am - 12 noon daily.

The curriculum will cover a wide range of courses to be taught by highly skilled professionals in their respective fields. The courses to be offered include photography, graphics, coding (python), piano, guitar, singing, dance, acting, talking drum, art and craft, ethics and morals, chess, football (ladies), and cake and craft.

The programme recognises the importance of community involvement, therefore, the documentation of social and community work, including visits to prisons, hospitals, and other relevant institutions, will be carried out to foster empathy and a sense of social responsibility among the participants.

In addition to the course content, the Summer School aims to instil important values and habits in the children. Daily chanting of the seven cultural values will be encouraged. Furthermore, good sitting habits and punctuality will be emphasised to foster discipline and personal growth.

The Alimosho Summer School is committed to empowering children with practical skills, nurturing their talents, and fostering a strong sense of community engagement. By combining diverse courses, the exhibition, and community work, this programme aims to create a memorable and impactful learning experience for all participants.

The summer school will place a special emphasis on the exhibition aspect, allowing students to showcase their talents and projects from the various courses. The final day, September 2, 2023, will feature a grand concert and exhibition titled; Ogidi Omo, which would take place at the Lagos Igando Theatre, where students will present their accomplishments to the community.

The chosen songs for the concert will be transformed into a script, incorporating elements from different courses as students will engage in dedicated rehearsals and training to ensure a spectacular performance during the concert.
