HRH Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano, has amplified the importance of unity for progress as he recently toured strategic quarters across south west Nigeria.
The emir who alongside his entourage, led other northern traditional chiefs domiciled in the south-west region amongst whom was the Sarki overall of Alimosho Local Government in Lagos State, Alh. AhmedHaruna Kuraja and Alhaji Iro Garban Tafida (Mai Samarin Agege), paid courtesy and working visits to the executive governors of Osun and Oyo states, Ooni of Ife, Alaafin of Oyo, Alake of Egba land, Oba of Lagos, the executive governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, amongst others.
Emphasizing the importance and relevance of the traditional institutions in the making of a united, prosperous and peaceful society, Sarki Aminu Ado Bayero maintained that the roles of the chieftaincy councils cannot be quantified, thus calling on the governments to, as a matter of urgency, re-establish and reinvigorate the partnerships that ensured a calmer society in our pasts.
Chorusing their individual positions on the best way to move the country forward, the Ooni of Ife, Alaafin of Oyo, Alake of Egba Land and Oba of Lagos, sounded similar with their prevalent calls for increased involvement of youths in the affairs of governance, doubled social services, strengthening of security architecture and the inevitable and properly documented involvement of the traditional institutions into the running of government to ensure a greater and peaceful Nigeria.
The Emir of Kano, who was received on arrival at the airport by the Sarkin Agege, Alh. Musa Muhammad Dogon Kadai, commended the contributions of northern chieftaincy councils to peace promotion in the southwestern region, as he enjoined them to double their efforts in the promotion and defence of our country's unity, stressing that, "God made Nigeria unique and the responsibility to guard and protect our common good and heritage rests with everyone of us."
In continuation of the visitations and unity-building efforts, the emir also met and conferred with the Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development in Lagos State, Arc. Ahmed Kabiru Abdullahi, who incidentally is the political leader and symbol of the Arewa community in Lagos State where the commissioner assured the emir of remaining steadfast in the cause of the Arewas and the unity of our nation.
HRH Alh Aminu Ado Bayero, while empathizing with the governor and people of Lagos on the barbarism and wanton destructions sequence to the #EndSars protests, enjoined the youthsb to give peace a chance.
The royal father also specially appreciated the Lagos State Government's practical demonstration of a one and united Nigeria in the appointment of a commissioner of northern Nigeria descent without any reservation, saying it's a worthwhile message to all regions of the country.
