THE Senate of the Lagos State University (LASU) has elected Professor Wahab Elias Olukorede as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of the University in the early hours of today, AlimoshoToday has learnt.
According to LASU's Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations (CIPPR) in a press release, the election, which took place today, Wednesday, August 26, 2020, saw Prof. Wahab defeat the other candidate for the position, Prof. Ayodeji Abari, by 88 to 43 votes to emerge the winner.
Prof. Wahab, a Professor of Sociology, and Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, succeeds Prof. Olumuyiwa Noah whose tenure ended on Monday, 24th August 2020 after serving for two consecutive terms of four years.
The election of the new DVC (Academics) is to be ratified by the Governing Council of the University.
