THE House of Representatives aspirant for the Alimosho Federal Constituency in the last election under the political platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ambassador Kaokab Ibraheem Aroworatira, has charged Government at all levels, organisations, and private individuals to give priority to youth development that will empower them not only for economic survival but also for future leadership roles.

Ambassador Kaokab stressed that any Local Government, Constituency, State, or Nation not empowering its youths and consciously investing in its next generation is not a serious society.

He gave the charge while speaking with journalists after having an interactive session with some Youth bodies in the Egbe-Idimu LCDA of Alimosho Federal Constituency, describing the youth as the engine of growth and development in any society.

Kaokab said the image sold about the present generation depresses the next generation's hope, saying, "We must understand our future is not secured if the future of the next generation is not properly placed."

Hence, he called on elected and appointed officeholders across the Alimosho Federal Constituency, Lagos, and Nigeria to create an enabling environment, starting with proper education incorporating vocational and entrepreneurial skills.

He said leaders and political office holders in Alimosho need to be deliberate in considering the Alimosho youth when signing bilateral agreements with investors, including capacity for skills.

In his words: “When people are underutilised there is agitation, hence the need for political office holders to restructure our system to be more equitable and empowering with skills. We need to retrain our people for new generational jobs.”

According to him, youths provide the necessary labour force for the production of goods and services and are critical to the economic development of Alimosho Federal Constituency, Lagos State, and Nigeria, urging them all to key into any project that will equip the youths.

"While we make selfless contributions towards youth empowerment schemes, let's always positively encourage and engage our youths at all times to check societal ills and enthrone a society that we all be proud of," he said.

He then reiterated that more participation is needed in the process of how leaders are elected in the country, stating that youths with capacity must be supported to vie for political leadership positions.
