Alimosho returns to bubbling city status, as travellers return to town

Many attribute their late arrival to a hike in transportation fares from their states down to Lagos due to the lingering fuel scarcity.

MAJOR cities in Alimosho LGA, this week, saw a major boom in human and vehicular traffic, as residents who travelled to various parts of the country for the holidays returned to their base.

Alimoshotoday's correspondent who, on Sunday, January 15, 2023, monitored events at the Iyana-Ipaja area of Alimosho reports seeing hundreds of returnees at the parks of various transport companies in the area.

A returnee, who did not give his name but says he stays at Igando, said the high cost of transportation occasioned his return to the city at this time.

He said, ''As of last week, the transportation cost from Port Harcourt to Lagos was between #23,000 and #25,000, so I couldn't afford it at the time. Besides, the roads were busy then, as many companies resumed on January 9. But coming in today, the roads are free, that is why I am arriving this late."

Speaking on his expectations for 2023, he said all will be about the February and March general elections.

As the campaigns wrap up, and elections are scheduled to hold on February 25 for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, residents of Alimosho, which happens to be the most populated LGA in Nigeria, are expected to turn out in their numbers to elect those who will determine their future in the next four years.
