A passenger bus supposedly coming from Abeokuta, Ogun State, to Lagos State in the early hours of Monday, April 3, 2023, crashed into a BRT terminal in the Abule Egba area of Lagos, leaving one casualty and other passengers severely injured.
According to media reports, the vehicle lost control while trying to drop a passenger at the bus stop.
An eyewitness, Babs, who spoke to Vanguard, said, “I was on my way to work this morning when the accident happened. The bus that was conveying passengers from Abeokuta somersaulted and crashed into the BRT terminal; the bus overturned. The driver and some passengers were injured.
“We gathered that the bus driver and a passenger were having an argument, and this caused the driver to lose concentration.”
Meanwhile, another eye witness, Abdulrasheed Tunde, said, “The vehicle was probably coming from Abeokuta this morning, and it was about to drop a passenger when it had brake failure. The vehicle somersaulted two times before crashing into the BRT fence.
“There has been one casualty confirmed while the rest of the passengers suffered severe injuries, some broken hands, legs, heads.”
The bus has since been evacuated from the scene, and normalcy has returned to the area.
