Shelve planned protest, Famuyiwa appeals to residents

THE Executive Chairman of the Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Hon. David Famuyiwa has appealed to the people of the council area, especially the youths to shun the planned protest against the Government.

He said it is true that hunger and insecurity have been ravaging the nation, but of course, Nigeria is not the only country facing such a hard time as this. Hence, there is no reason to embark on any protest, stressing that the current Government has been addressing the challenges and he can assure them that the future is secured under this Government.

He added that this Government is barely one year in office and has engaged in several implementations of policies and programmes, from clearing the rot in the nation’s social security programme to ensuring that what is meant to assist the most vulnerable gets to the right people.

“Even the youths are not left out in the Renewed Hope Agenda with the students’ loan scheme of the current administration. This scheme, which gives loans at no interest, doesn’t only cover theoretical academic pursuits, but also the area of vocational training,” he added.

Additionally, the Famuyiwa-led administration has also been giving palliatives in cash, tools, and food to vulnerable groups, widows,  aged, and the disabled in the Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA and would still do more with the available resources.

He said the planned protest seems to be politically motivated and citizens are admonished to steer clear of a protest that is likely to be hijacked by the fifth columnists and hostile forces/agents who could use the planned protest to destabilise the peace of the nation and which can potentially lead to injuries and fatalities.

He, therefore, appealed to all residents to remain law-abiding, and vigilant, and avoid any act that could lead to a breach of law and security in the State and country.
